Medicine for Loose Motion (Diarrhea): What To Take When Your Stomach’s Messed Up

Ughhh loose motion sucks big time, right? When you gotta run to the bathroom like every 5 mins and can’t do anything else. So what meds can help? I looked it up and here’s what I found — hope it helps you out!

Common meds for loose motion

  1. Loperamid (Imodium)
This one’s popular and works by slowing down your intestines so you poop less. Works pretty quick but don’t take it if you got fever or blood in your poop cause that means infection and this might make it worse.

  2. ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution)
This is super important even tho it’s not really a med to stop diarrhea. When you have loose motion, you lose lots of water and salts, so ORS helps you stay hydrated and not get weak.

  3. Probiotics
Good bacteria that helps fix your gut. You can take probiotic pills or eat yogurt. Helps bring back balance in your tummy.

  4. Zinc tablets
Especially for kids, zinc can help make diarrhea go away faster and heal your intestines.

When to see doctor?

  • Diarrhea lasts more than 2 days

  • Blood or mucus in stool

  • High fever or bad stomach pain

  • Feeling really weak or dizzy (dehydration signs)

  • If baby or old person gets diarrhea better see doc soon

Things to remember

  • Avoid oily, spicy or junk food till you feel better

  • Drink lots of water, coconut water or clear soups

  • Rest lots and don’t eat heavy food

  • Don’t take antibiotics unless doctor says so (most diarrhea caused by virus not bacteria)

  • Please dont take loose motion lightly. Dehydration due to loose motion can be fatal.

Disclaimer

I’m not a doctor or anything, just some random person sharing stuff I read online. If you got bad symptoms or diarrhea lasts long, please see real doc. Don’t just take meds without knowing what’s wrong. Stay safe and drink water!
